01/03/06 07:35:05 - Going Home... pt. III

Aren has finally made it home. We actually drove into town Friday night and have spent the last few days settling in. It’s great to be home, and not just because we don’t have to drive through Texas anymore. (I don’t think I’ll ever hear “Deep in the Heart of Texas” again without getting physically ill.)
Of course, Aren was only allowed to come home because his GVHD was pretty well under control. His skin is looking a bit dry now, but we think that’s because we’re in a much drier climate. From here on out, Aren will be checked out in Tucson by the doctors there, although they want him to fly back out to D.C. in March and again in October, then yearly after that, just so they can continue to track him (for research purposes). He still has to wear a mask whenever he’s outside of the house, but hopefully the doctors will take him off of isolation within the next couple of weeks. Once that happens, Aren will finally be able to start Kindergarten and resume his Tae Kwon Do classes. He’s very excited, needless to say.

Thanks, everyone for your support. We couldn’t have done this without you.
