Dear MaryBeth, Rich & Aren,

Please accept our sincere and heartfelt sympathy on the loss of your beautiful little girl. We can only imagine the pain and sorrow. Our prayers are with all of you. With our deepest sympathy, George, Georgie & Linda (Bill Navarro's sister)

There will come a day when the tears of sorrow
will softly flow into tears of remembrance...
and your heart will begin to heal itself...
and grieving will be interrupted by episodes of joy...
and you will hear the whisper of hope.
There will come a day when you will welcome the tears of remembrance as a sunshower of the soul...
a turning of the tide...
a promise of peace.
There will come a day when you will...
treasure the tears of remembering.

MaryBeth, Rick, and Aren,

We love you so very much! You have been such an example of strength and perceverence. Our prayers continue to be with you. Thank you, MaryBeth and Rick, for giving me the opportunity to compile a eulogy for Lily. Feeling completely inadequate for such a special task, I went to Katharine and asked if she would like to write something instead -- being the "Family Historian" and all. She declined, telling me it would be a choice experience and one that I would not regret. How right she was. I learned so much about Lily. I have a greater understanding of who she is, and look forward to the day when I can meet with her again.

Rick and MaryBeth, I want you two to know how much I love your family and how much I love Lily. You two are my heros. You called me at a time when I needed someone to tell me to pick myself up off of the floor and uncurl from the fetal position and boy did I need that. Now if there is any thing I can tell you or do for you, please let me know and I will do it in a heartbeat. Love always. JO

My husband and I are members of the same ward where your family attends church. I am not quite sure if we have ever met. But we have heard alot about your family through Ari Mathews (I am her visiting teacher). I am so sorry to hear about your recent loss. And hope you are comforted by your faith in Jesus Christ. I wanted to tell you that your story has inspired me to volunteer to become a bone marrow doner and I pray that when the time is right I might be a match for someone.

I was only able to enjoy Lily's company for a short time while I visited Eva last March. When I smile at her, she'd turn away, in a cute shy way. But I know she's such a sweetheart. To MaryBeth and Rick, my family lost our little brother David when he was 5 1/2. If you need to talk to someone who lost a young loved one, my Mom would be happy to talk call her at 563-252-1868.

God sends special children to special parents. From what I have heard from other members of your family, you are indeed special parents, blessed with very special children. May God always bless you, comfort you, and hold you close to Him and may you always find peace in the knowledge that He is there for you. You are also very lucky to have such wonderful family members. You wouldn't believe the number of prayers offered up not just for Lily but for her family.

I'm sure missing you today. I know you're happy and healthy, but there is a part of me that still aches to know you are here where I can poke your tummy and tickle your toes. And I would love to hear you say, "Noooo!" in that funny little way you had. Sure love you Lil!!

Found these lyrics on the Behunin Family website, and I thought of Rick, MaryBeth, Aren and Lily.

Help Pour Out The Rain (Lacey's Song)
(Buddy Jewell)

The moment was custom-made to order:
I was ridin' with my daughter on our way back from Monroe.
An' like children do, she started playin' twenty questions,
But I never could've guessed one would touch me to my soul.

She said: "Daddy, when we get to Heaven, can I taste the Milky Way?
"Are we goin' there to visit, or are we goin' there to stay?
"Am I gonna see my Grandpa? Can I have a pair of wings?
"An' do you think that God could use another Angel,
"To help pour out the rain?"

Well, I won't lie: I pulled that car right over,
An' I sat there on the shoulder tryin' to dry my misty eyes.
An' I whispered: "Lord, I wanna thank you for my children.
"'Cause your innocence that fills them often takes me by surprise."

Like: "Daddy, when we get to Heaven, can I taste the Milky Way?
"Are we goin' there to visit, or are we goin' there to stay?
"Am I gonna see my Grandpa? Can I have a pair of wings?
"An' do you think that God could use another Angel,
"To help pour out the rain?"

Well, I thought about it later on,
An' a smile came to my face.
An' when I tucked her in to bed,
I got down on my knees an' prayed.

Lord, when I get to Heaven, can I taste the Milky Way?
"I don't wanna come to visit 'cause I'm comin' home to stay?
"An' I can't wait to see my family and meet Jesus face to face.
"An' do you think, Lord, you could use just one more Angel,
"To help pour out the rain?"

Mmmm, can I help pour out the rain?

Hey guys

I don't know if you remember who I am, but I still wanted to express my feeling to you.

I am sorry to hear of your loss and I am inspired by the way you are handling it. My wife was diagnosed with cancer in January. It has been a trial that I wish we were not going through, but through trials, God refines us and makes us what he wants us to be, if we let him. But like you said in her story, it is not up to us to question why.

Meagan's (my wife) prognosis is good and this has brought us closer together. Even though it is hard, I will try to be as strong as you. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I heard yesterday that Lily had a web site, I had no Idea that she had passed away until I got on to check it out. I am so sorry that I was never able to meet lily. She is beatiful, just like her mom. MaryBeth I am so sorry that you have to go through this, but Heavenly Father sure must love Lily a lot to give her to a mom with such a big heart. He knew you were the only person who would be able to handle the joys, heartache, sleepless nights, laughter, tears, and incredible aching that came along with lily. I miss you and I hurt for the pain you must feel. Please let me know if I can do anything for you and your family.

I stumbled across this little tribute to Lilly while looking at Velda's website. I saw Velda last night at Wal Mart for the first time in many years. She is still the same happy, smiling girl I always remember -- something that I am finding very characteristic of the Harper line. I am sure that the love reflected in those smiles is what keeps you going each day. This little website has touched me deeply. Having little kids the same age, I won't even pretend to imagine what emotions your family has and are going through.

I am reminded of a quote by Joseph F. Smith, that only reiterates the testimony of Mary Beth. “The mother who laid down her little child, being deprived of the privilege, the joy, and the satisfaction of bringing that child up to...womanhood in this world, would, after the resurrection, have all the joy, satisfaction and pleasure, and even more than it would have been possible to have had in mortality, in seeing her child grow to the full measure of the stature of her spirit.”

Families can be together — forever. God bless you.

good evening. i just was looking up short hairstyles in google for an upcoming wedding i am in. somehow a photo of lily showed up and being that i am a teacher and love children i clicked on it. i am reading all about her now and sobbing. i feel so bad that such an adorable angel was placed on earth and had to leave at only 3 years old. im sure you were blessed to have her for so long but im so upset that it had to end so shortly and with so much pain in an enduring 3 years. im only 23 years old and i graduated last year with a teaching degree in art k-12. i love children so very much and art and i always knew this is what i was meant to do. i care for children so much and to be able to teach them is truly a gift. im just glad that i get to help them realize what artistic talent they have and to express themselves thru this mean. that hand drawn picture on here of her is so adorable. i just wanted you to know that a stranger in pittsburgh, pa was touched tonight by your daughter and im glad she made it to heaven and is living in peace now. *in my prayers* j3n
